Based on dimensions from the Crate and Barrel site, the round wide is 6.3" high vs 6.8" (5.5qt)/7.2" (7.25qt). If you're debating between the 5.5qt and 6.75qt, I don't think 1/2" makes that much of a difference for.

Honestly a 7.25 is way bigger than you'd need most of the time. It's gonna be huge, heavy, and a pain to clean. I'm not sure the occasional dinner party is worth it. I'd go for the 5.5. Big enough for roasts and meals for two with some lovely leftovers. It's a great size for pasta, rice, stews, etc.
